Welcome to the first in the series of posts highlighting some of the new features on Texas Sutler. One of the biggest changes we've made is our checkout process. Texas Sutler now accepts payment from all major credit cards using PayPal or Google Checkout (as well as bank accounts via PayPal). As we are using these third party services, the process of checking out will be a little different. Don't worry. We have you covered in this guide to explain how it all works.<!--more-->
Checkout using PayPal
PayPal is the most popular third-party payment services on the way. Many online businesses use it to accept payment from their customers including sites like eBay, Kmart, and Barnes and Noble. In addition to accepting major credit cards, you can also link your personal checking account to PayPal and withdraw funds directly from there.
To get started checking out using PayPal, click the Proceed to Checkout button located just below the Subtotal at the Shopping Cart.
You will continued the checkout process by entering your Billing and Shipping information (hosted by our e-commerce software provider Shopify). We have to know where to send your order, of course. This also allows us to ensure we tax your order appropriately.
Next, we'll need to know how you want your packaged shipped. Shipping is provided by FedEx. As you notice on this page, Texas Sutler does NOT store any of your credit card information. All of this is handled by our third-party payment services, so you know your information is safe.
Once you've selected this information, you'll be redirected to PayPal. If you already have a PayPal account, you will be able to log into that account on the right side of the screen. Don't have a PayPal account? Don't worry. In the left column, you can click a link to continue the checkout process without an account. It should be noted that you will NOT be able to use a checking account if you do NOT have a PayPal account.
If you decide to continue without a PayPal account, you will be asked to enter your credit card information on the next page.
After logging into PayPal or entering your credit card information if you don't have a PayPal account, you will have a chance to review your order.
Due to the way PayPal accepts orders from our store, PayPal is unable to see specifically which items you have purchased. The only information it receives is the total cost of your purchase (items, shipping costs, and, if applicable, tax). If you need to review the items you are purchasing, click the link to Cancel and return to Texas Sutler. Otherwise, if you're ready to complete your purchase, click the Pay Now button.
You will return to Texas Sutler at this point and receive email confirmation of your order (from Texas Sutler) and payment (from PayPal).
Checkout using Google Checkout
One of the newer checkout options available is from internet giant Google. Google Checkout provides a very similar service to PayPal but requires the use of or creation of a Google account. If you already use any Google service (such as Gmail, YouTube, and xxx), you already have a Google account. If you don't, you can easily create one at checkout.
To use Google Checkout, click the Google Checkout button (located below the Subtotal) at the Shopping Cart. At this point, you are redirected to Google to continue the checkout process.
If you already have a Google account, just sign in on the right side of the screen. Don't have one? You can easily create one by entering the necessary information on the left side of the screen. You will also be able to enter your credit card information to save you a little bit of time on the account creation process.
After signing in or creating an account, you'll be asked to review your order. You can change your shipping method at this screen if you need speedier service. Compared to PayPal, you can see everything that you are purchasing also with shipping costs and applicable tax (if any).
If all the information is correct, click the Place your order now button to complete the purchase. You will return to Texas Sutler at this point and receive email confirmation of your order (from Texas Sutler) and payment (from Google).
And that's how you proceed with the checkout processes. The option is yours as to which to use. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to contact us.
